City of Rehoboth Beach Achieves Perfect Score on 2025 Municipal Equality Index, the Highest in the State of Delaware
The City of Rehoboth Beach has achieved a perfect score on the 2025 Municipal Equality Index, conducted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The MEI examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ+ people who live and work there. Cities are rated based on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement and leadership on LGBTQ+ equality. The score demonstrates a strong and invaluable partnership with CAMP Rehoboth, who guided the City through this process.
City of Rehoboth Beach to Consider Input from Business Owners Regarding Summer Bandstand Concert Series
The Bandstand Summer Concert Series has consistently been one of the City’s most popular events, and runs three nights a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. It can bring in crowds of up to 1,500 people.
Some business owners expressed concern over the crowds and parking restrictions detracting from their businesses, so City officials will take their feedback to heart as possible solutions or adjustments are explored.
No timeline has been determined, but we will keep the community and media informed.
All milling and paving on Munson and Christian Streets is completed. Striping, punch list, utility adjustments, and demobilization should be done by end of the day on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Clarification on Parking Permit Report for Driveway Spaces

Onix Group, the firm managing the One Rehoboth Avenue hotel project, is going back to the Planning Commission, most likely on December 12 (pushed back from Nov., which was the date reported in Lines in the Sand) to present a minor amendment to their site plans. Once approved, demolition of the affected businesses will begin on the corner of Rehoboth Avenue. Stay tuned for further updates.
Rehoboth Beach Police Department unveils new community policing connect portal
In an effort to provide City of Rehoboth Beach residents peace of mind, the Rehoboth Beach Police Department has launched a Frontline Community Policing Connect portal. This new portal allows for communication between the City of Rehoboth Beach community and law enforcement by offering easy, direct access to several services. Entries in the portal are secure and only accessible by the Police Department.

City of Rehoboth Beach seeking members for Boardwalk Historical Designation Task Force
The City of Rehoboth Beach is seeking applicants for the new Boardwalk Historic Designation Task Force. The purpose of this task force is to acquire historic designations for the boardwalk by the Delaware Public Archives and the National Register of Historic Places. Voting task force members should primarily be comprised of residents, property owners, and business owners. It may also include selected members with special related experience who live outside city limits. Experience in historic preservation or complementary fields is preferred. Click for more details.
As part of a statewide DelDOT project, the Rehoboth Avenue drawbridge is being cleaned and painted. These processes are necessary to maintain the longevity of the bridge, as corrosion has built up since it was last painted in 1996. While there are no structural issues due to paint corrosion at this time, the drawbridge is vulnerable to reduced service if left untreated.

The City of Rehoboth Beach has approved an agreement with Zambelli Fireworks Manufacturing Company to provide an exhibition and display of fireworks on July 5, 2026. Zambelli has been providing the fireworks show to Rehoboth Beach for several years, but this year is significant as it is USA’s 250th Birthday, so the show will be extra special.
