The City of Rehoboth Prepares for Upcoming Budget Meetings

January 8, 2026

The City of Rehoboth is currently working through the budgeting process for fiscal year 2027, which begins on April 1, 2026. The numbers are not final yet but here are some things to know about the process, and we will update the numbers when they are finalized.

Here are the key aspects in this year’s budget:

  • General Fund: general fund expenses include police, IT, administration, finance, building & licensing, parking and others.
  • Enterprise Funds: enterprise water and wastewater funds.
  • Capital Improvements: on-going projects and some one-time projects.
  • Revenue Sources: revenue sources include, but are not limited to property transfer taxes, parking, building permits, and rental taxes.
  • Specific Allocations: contributions made to non-profits*.

As for the timeline for this year’s budget, internal meetings with each department have been underway since November. Beginning in mid-January, there will be a series of budget meetings and discussions that are open to the public, and in which people can ask questions and provide input. All agendas will be posted on the City web site.

There are five Commissioners Special Budget Workshop Meetings scheduled for:
– January 16, 2026
– February 9, 2026
– February 20, 2026
– March 9, 2026
– March 20, 2026 – typically the final meeting for budget approval
