Summer 2026
After a very snowy and cold winter, summer is finally here! With the summer season comes increased restrictions and guidelines in the City. Below, find some helpful resources to ensure a great summer in the City of Rehoboth Beach. For the full details on the topics below, click each header.
Beach and Boardwalk Rules
Leashed dogs and other animals are prohibited at all times on the beach and boardwalk from May 15-September 15.
Bicycles are permitted on the boardwalk only until 10 am May 15-September 15.
Skateboards, rollerblades, and other roller skates are prohibited on the boardwalk and bandstand. In addition, skateboards are prohibited from all streets and sidewalks from May 15-September 15.
Tents and canopies are not permitted on Rehoboth Beach. Only baby tents, no larger than 3′ high x 3′ long x 4′ wide are allowed. This tent prohibition goes for tarps, cabanas, pavilions, sportsbrellas, and other similar devices as well.
Individuals under the age of 18 are not permitted in public places or on the premises of privately owned businesses within the City of Rehoboth Beach from 11 pm-5 am daily, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Fires, grills, and cooking or heating devices that use fire are prohibited on the beach and boardwalk.
Exclusive parties/events are not permitted on the beach, as it is a public space.

Summer Concert Series
Our Bandstand Summer Concert Series take place every weekend from mid-June through Labor Day. These concerts start at 8 pm, are free and open to the public, and seating is first-come first-serve. Performances include tribute acts, local artists, and military bands.
New this year: The Bandstand horseshoe will be closed to vehicles starting at 6 pm on concert days to ensure the safety of spectators. Vehicles parked in the horseshoe spots will be ticketed and ParkMobile/meters will be disabled starting at 6 pm on these days. Due to feedback from business owners, we are piloting new schedules for concerts with two trial dates — on Thursday, June 25, there a concert will take place instead of Friday; no concert will take place on Sunday, July 19. All other weekends will remain the same Friday-Sunday schedule.
Coming to enjoy a concert? Buy dinner, ice cream, or a t-shirt — support our local businesses!

Parking
Meter season in the City of Rehoboth Beach is from May 15-September 15. Rates are $4/hour. Meters payment is required daily from 10 am until 10 pm.
Parking permits are required in all non-metered areas of the city from 10 am-5 pm May 15-September 15.
Beach Patrol
The Rehoboth Beach Patrol’s season begins on Saturday, May 23 and lifeguards will be on duty from 9 am-5 pm weekdays and 9:30 am-5:30 pm on weekends and holidays through September 20 (with limited coverage after Labor Day).
In case you missed it: Last summer, the Beach Patrol’s new comfort station and headquarters opened at 1 Baltimore Avenue. This houses public restrooms — including two family restrooms, as well as four changing rooms. The Rehoboth Beach Patrol operates out of the second floor, which includes an observation deck; the patrol also utilizes a medical room to serve the public and two ATV garages for storage on the first floor.
What Else Is New Around the City?
Bollards
As part of our Bandstand/Boardwalk Vehicular Safety Plan, bollards (gray cylindrical posts designed to restrict traffic movement and protect people and property from vehicles) have been installed at the Rehoboth Avenue boardwalk entrance, by the bus stop/public restrooms at the Bandstand, and on the sidewalks around the Bandstand. Due to the heavy pedestrian presence during our Summer Concerts at the Bandstand and the City’s desire to physically secure the area around it, the bollards and new safety measures will prevent vehicles from entering pedestrian areas. The bollard placement along the Boardwalk will protect pedestrians and the boardwalk itself on a regular basis.
Find more details on the bollards project here.
Hotel Projects
The approved hotel projects on the boardwalk will not be open this summer. Continued demolition and construction on the One Rehoboth Hotel is slated to begin this fall, with its anticipated opening in 2028. While Grotto’s and the Sirroco Motel were demolished in 2025, the other businesses that will be affected by this project will remain open this summer.
