Meet Tara Esquivel and Patrick Conneely

October 22, 2025

Ever wonder who the two smiling faces at City Hall’s front desk are? Tara Esquivel and Patrick Conneely are the city’s two administrative assistants, responsible for processing payments, answering general questions, and so much more. The two employees discussed their roles with Communications Manager Brooke Thaler, find the interview below.

Q: We know the most visible things you two do – answer the phones, greet City Hall visitors – but your jobs are much more than that. What does the billing side of your roles look like?

A: We process all incoming mail, monthly and quarterly water bills, all invoices, lodging tax, real estate tax, gross rental receipts, yearly tax bills, delinquent bills, termination notices, all B&L paperwork, special events fees; we deposit
all checks that come into the building.

We also do a lot with parking – in addition to parking tickets, we issue the parking stickers each year (last year there were
3,700 stickers issued!), issue parking passes for residents and businesses.

Q: In addition to those tasks, what are other things people might not know you do?

A: Patrick manages the Convention Center schedule and all beach weddings. He also goes to the post office every day to get the mail. Both Tara and Patrick manage all FedEx and UPS packages sent to the city as well.

Q: What are some questions and general inquiries you get asked?

A: Anything under the sun! Some of our favorites have included “Is Thrasher’s open?” “Is the beach open?” “Is sand real?”
