Budget Session No. 4: Monday, March 9
March 10, 2026
The City of Rehoboth is currently working through the budgeting process for fiscal year 2027, which begins on April 1, 2026. In the March 9 Commissioners Meeting Incorporating Budget Session No. 4, the focus was on:
Specific Allocations: contributions made to non-profits.
All requests were approved. The requests were as follows:
Rehoboth Beach Main Steet – $60,000
Rehoboth Beach Historical Society – $60,000, after requesting $52,000
Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company – $300,000
Rehoboth Beach Public Library – $75,000
CAMP Rehoboth – $75,000
The fee structure was also discussed, specifically Building Permit Extensions beyond 12 months. Nothing new was introduced, but revised fees were presented based on suggestions made at the last budget meeting. This topic will be revisited at a later date. The City will continue to look into this before determining the best structure for renewal.
Another topic that was discussed was merit increases vs. merit bonuses for City staff, as well as the Paid Family Leave Tax.
The final meeting for budget approval will be held on March 20, 2026.
