7 new intersections all-way stop intersections approved

At the May 4th Mayor and Commissioners meeting, the board approved a request for DelDOT to authorize the conversion of seven intersections in the city to all-way stops:

• Henlopen Avenue at Gerar Street
• Henlopen Avenue at Third Street
• Columbia Avenue at Gerar Street
• Columbia Avenue at Fourth Street
• Columbia Avenue at Third Street
• State Road at Hickman/Canal Streets
• State Road at Munson/Grove Streets

Next steps

Now that commissioners have voted to make these intersections all-way stops, they will submit the signage and striping plan for the State Road and Columbia Avenue intersections to DelDOT, with no timeline given by the state. Once this resolution from the state is acquired, stop signs, bars, and striping will be installed soon after.

Striping at the two approved intersections on Henlopen Avenue will begin on May 11. Since this is not a state road, installation can begin prior to DelDOT approval.
