Storm Updates from the City of Rehoboth: Water, Driving, Power Outages & Trash Pickup

February 23, 2026

Here are a few important updates from the City of Rehoboth Beach:

Water Usage:

We asked that people use caution with water and flushing due to a power outage at the wastewater facility, but please be assured that the wastewater facility is equipped with backup power systems, and the generators are running. The plant has maintained power through its backup systems, and crews continue actively managing operations during the outage.

Temporary conservation measures are simply a precaution while conditions stabilize across the city. There is currently no risk to infrastructure or the environment. Our priority remains protecting public health and maintaining reliable service for the community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as crews continue working through the storm response.

Power Outages and Downed Trees & Wires:

We are aware that there are trees down and powerlines down all around the City. Our crews are doing their best to respond and clean up as much as possible, while also working to clear the roads.

We also know there are many homes without power, and we have been in touch with Delmarva Power, and they are making their way back to the City after finishing up at Holland Glade. They were here last night but had to pull crews due to high winds. – All businesses, professional offices, organizations, entities, etc. shall be encouraged to take appropriate protective actions to protect their citizens, customers, and employees by termination of operations or shelter in place.

– An employer of a public or private entity shall not terminate, reprimand, discipline, or in any way commit any adverse employment action against an employee who, as a result of the activation of a Level 3 Driving Ban, fails or refuses to report to work during the pendency of the driving ban.

– Any person or entity in violation of an activated Level 3 Driving Ban under this subsection shall be penalized pursuant to § 3125 of this title.

Stay off the roads until further notice.

Trash pick-up throughout the City will now take place on Thursday, Feb. 26.
