Contact: Brooke Thaler, Communications Department, 302-227-6181, ext. 522
The City of Rehoboth Beach is preparing for the potential winter storm and dangerously cold temperatures forecasted for this weekend and into next week.
Our Public Works department has:
- At least eight plows ready.
- Over 30 tons of salt on hand. The City will salt after all plowing is done.
- Rooms are set up in a local hotel for city employees to safely stay in town, while some workers will stay in their department buildings in order to easily access equipment.
- Two shifts set for Sunday – one starting Sunday morning and one on Sunday afternoon.
Rehoboth Avenue will be the biggest priority for clearing to allow access for our police and fire.
Our police department, per usual, will have:
- All shifts fully staffed.
- Dispatchers on-call 24-hours.
- Vehicles prepared and ready.
- In case of emergency, please call 911. For non-emergencies, please call 302-227-2577.
Reminders for anyone in the City during the storm:
- If you live within the limits of the City of Rehoboth Beach and you lose power, please call Delmarva Power directly.
- Please clear cars off streets if possible prior to the start of the storm.
- If a snow emergency is declared by the City Manager, parking is restricted on both sides and the full length of Rehoboth Avenue, Bayard Avenue, and State Road. Towing will be enforced if cars cannot be moved.
If the Governor issues driving restrictions in Sussex County, see the details here: SnowDEDrivingRestrictions.pdf
