Potential Winter Storm and Dangerous Cold Coming to Rehoboth Beach

With the forecast of the possibility of a snow event and dangerously cold temperatures this
weekend and early next week, there are few things business and homeowners, and
residents can do to prepare. Please keep the following in mind:

• The City will send out a Beacon Alert notifying people of dangerous conditions (to
  subscribe: text REHOBCH to 888777), however, if you would like more detailed
  updates and reports on what’s happening before, during, and after the storm,
  please subscribe to Beyond the Beach newsletter updates.
• If the storm does move in, avoid parking vehicles on streets to allow city crews to
  clear roads more effectively. This especially pertains to Rehoboth Avenue.
• If a snow emergency is declared by the city manager, parking is restricted on both sides
  and the full length of Rehoboth Avenue, Bayard Avenue, and State Road. Be
  prepared to move vehicles on those streets if necessary, as towing will be enforced if cars cannot be moved.
• Clearing sidewalks is the responsibility of individual residential and
  commercial property owners. The City is not responsible for shoveling
  sidewalks.
• If you are out of town or not residing in your home during the winter, and your home
  is not already winterized, please have someone: shovel your sidewalks, and look for
  ways to avoid freezing pipes. If you are able help a neighbor out, please do so.
• Please resist the temptation to oversalt your sidewalks. Using too much salt can
  cause major damage to your driveway and lawn once the snow melts – not to
  mention it’s hard on our pets. Please plan to sweep up the salt after the snow melts.
