This morning, the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, with the help of the City of Rehoboth Beach, held a Downtown Advisory Task Force Meeting to discuss closures during the Bandstand Summer Concert Series.
Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, City of Rehoboth Beach, and Rehoboth Beach businesses attended to discuss the pros and cons of the concert series. A survey, created by the Chamber, was provided to business owners and asked questions about the impact of the events, the frequency, and how businesses are working with the crowds that attend.
“We received so much helpful input this morning,” said City Manager Taylour Tedder. “We appreciate the business owners who took the time to attend, answer the survey, and speak up about their concerns. There were a lot of solutions-oriented suggestions presented to us, and we are taking it all into consideration as we look to our Bandstand scheduling moving forward.”
The Bandstand Summer Concert Series has consistently been one of the City’s most popular events, and runs three nights a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. It can bring in crowds of up to 1,500 people.
Some business owners expressed concern over the crowds and parking restrictions detracting from their businesses, so City officials will take their feedback to heart as possible solutions or adjustments are explored.
No timeline has been determined, but we will keep the community and media informed.
