City of Rehoboth Beach Sea Witch Festival: By the Numbers

During the 2025 Sea Witch Festival, the City of Rehoboth Beach managed a range of operations behind the scenes to ensure a smooth operation and to keep people safe, keep things clean, and make sure the show went on as planned. Here are some stats and facts about the numbers, the manpower, and the tasks that the city handled during this year’s event.
Rehoboth Beach Police Department
20 Full-Time RBPD

47 Assisting Officer for Traffic Control & Crowd Security from 17 different agencies: Camden PD, Clayton PD, Dagsboro PD, Delaware Capitol, Delaware River & Bay Authority, Delaware State Police, Dewey Beach PD, Fenwick Island PD, Laurel PD, Middletown PD, Millsboro PD, Milton PD, Seaford Police, Smyrna PD, UDPD
16 Officers provided specialized resources such as Explosive Ordinance Detection, Overwatch, Quick Response Teams, and Mounted Patrol.
8 Probation & Parole officers monitored the crowd for the detection and apprehension of monitored sex offenders.
Between Rehoboth PD and DelDOT, over 1200 cones, 50 barricades, and 9 message boards were put out.
DelDOT provided drone surveillance of the event through 3 drone pilots.
DEMA provided a drone detection system that was utilized to intercept one drone flying in a careless manner over the crowd.
From 6am-6pm, Rehoboth Communications Center processed 33 calls for service; 23 Police, 4 Fire, 6 EMS.
There were approximately 32 street closures throughout the event.
Streets Department
12 Streets Department workers Saturday and Sunday on 2 shifts from 6AM to 7PM both days. Several stayed late on Friday to prep. Projects included: street sweeping, cleaning garbage, debris, general cleanup.
During the events when crowds were heavy, streets department walked down Rehoboth Avenue, pre-pulling bags for later pickup, and changed out garbage bags.
Loose trash picked up during event; leftover materials and trash pickup after.
14 tons of trash collected during the weekend.
125 pounds of cardboard recycled.
Street sweeping was done around city the entire weekend.
Buildings & Grounds
4 on staff from Building & Grounds all weekend.
Qualitatively speaking, B&G says busiest event they’ve ever seen; the exact amount of people is not determined.
Large amount of trash and cleanup in Convention Center by B&G.
Bandstand
1 staff member on site who supported and assisted the sound production.
9 musical performances. The staff provided stage lighting support for nighttime events; coordinated and assisted with various groups as stage manager as groups entered, parked, and loaded/unloaded equipment; worked with Apple Electric to install electric box necessary for food vendors on outer wall of bandstand/bathroom building; maintained dressing rooms and bathrooms for performances and event coordinators throughout the weekend through cleaning, stocking, and trash collection.
