Important Water & Driving Updates

February 23, 2026

We are currently experiencing a power outage at our wastewater facility. While crews are working diligently to restore it as quickly as possible, we ask that you refrain from flushing toilets and limit water use until further notice to help prevent system issues.

We understand there are a lot of questions right now. The wastewater facility is equipped with backup power systems, and the generators are running. The plant has maintained power through its backup systems, and crews continue actively managing operations during the outage.

Temporary conservation measures are simply a precaution while conditions stabilize across the city. There is currently no risk to infrastructure or the environment. Our priority remains protecting public health and maintaining reliable service for the community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as crews continue working through the storm response.

Sussex County is in a Level 3 Driving Ban, so stay off the roads. Our crews are hard at work throughout the city.

We will continue to update you as conditions change. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this very impactful storm.
